SSR Selfie l Matilda

I read 20 pages of Matilda. by Roald Dahl.

First I read about Matilda's parents owned a car that they won from a lotto ticket. Next Matilda goes to the library to read some books.

I like Matilda because Matilda's likes education more than money.

America's Cup

 Today we did an America's Cup activity. We read 3 paragraphs about the America's Cup. then we had to do who, what, when, where and why. Then we had to summaries all the words in who, what, when, where and why. 

For the main ideas we had to write information about the America Cup from a video or a text.

 For the summarising we had to pick 20 words. After we had to pick six words. We had to write what is the America's Cup.

For the Evaluating we had to make our own slide and and put copy and paste the summarising then we had.

using these strategies can help me do other work.    

                                                                     

Prototec

Today I Practice Prototec stage four of Prototec.

My score was 57/60 and my time was 4 minutes and 36 seconds.

I will try to get 60% and move on to stage 5

The Highway Rat

Today Mr Ogilvie read a book to LS1

This book is about a rat who steals people's food. He like sweets chocolate, cake and buns. Then he went to a village took 12 sausages and 1 clover.

Then we had to visualize the book in our head and write it on a paper. A visualization is important because you can focus on the drawing and not get distracted.

My partner Kahu's drawing is different then my drawing my partner has speech bubbles and I don't.

AFL | Lesson

 Group A went with coach Becs and we learnt new skills.

First we learnt the the ruck. To do the ruck you have to throw the ball up in the air and hit it anywhere. The next skill we learnt was the mark catcher to do a mark catcher you have to put your hand into a bulldozer and roll your hand to yourself. The other way of doing a mark catcher is putting your hands in the air in a w.

We practiced the other skills from last week. Drop punt, the dinner plate and your fist and hand ball.

I enjoyed this session because I got to learn new skills. I think I need to improve on my passes.

   

Place Value & Saying Numbers

 Place value is a system that group numbers based on their size.

The position of a digit determins its value. When we say numbers we group then within the same house. For example 15 709 has fifteen thousands, seven hundred and nine ones.

Understanding our base 10 base value system allows us to pronounce big numbers properly. it also allows us to identify numbers before and after. 

Basic fact boxes

This week I completed a speed demon challenge. 

I did up to 5 I got 98% I just needed 2 more to get 100 

I got 4 minutes and 1 second.

I enjoyed this task because it teaches me my basic facts

 

Mihi Whakatau

 Mihi Whakatau is a Maori term for a formal greeting.

 Mihi Whakatau is a traditonally used for welcoming introductions and openings. It is undertaken by the Tangata whenua (local inhabitants).

The mihi needs to acknowledge the significant aspects to the place. The Maunga (mountain), Awa (river), and iwi (tribe) are generally used.

Introducing Ingoa (name), Oku tipuna (ancestral place) and where you live is important for the audience to understand the position of the speaker.

Mauhiri is the term used to describe or group the visitors that are being welcomed.

It is important to end with warm welcome so the visitors know that there is no hostility in the 2 groups being together.

Being respectful of the land, the people and the purpose of a visit will ensure long lasting relationships and connections.

Fact Find

 I completed a can-do called fact find.

My fact find was about Stephen Curry. I learnt a lot of new facts about Stephen Curry.

I know that Stephen Curry won 3 champion ships and wears number 30 to honer his dad.

I really enjoyed this task it is because you get to find about the person.

Print Design Rules

I learned about the print design rules.

First Mr Wong taught us about the main aspects of the Print Design Rules, colour, layout, text, composition.

Next I figured out which posters were good and bad with my partners.

Last I reorganised a poster to make it look good.

I think I could make my background a lot darker and all the text lighter.

SSR Selfie l Heroes Of Olympus The Lost Hero

 I read 10 pages of Heroes Of Olympus The Lost Hero. By Rick Riordan.

The first page was about Percy going to camp and having a bad nightmare about him fighting his worst fear.

I then read about Percy fighting his worst nightmare then his friends came to help Percy after that they went back to there tent with a diamond piece.

I dislike Percy because he took the diamond and never gave it to his friends.

HandWriting

I completed a writing activity called handwriting.

First we watched a video to copy so it looks perfect.

We wrote to A-Z in capitals and lowercase.

Lastly we wrote numbers and symbols 

I enjoyed this task. I need to write my letters netter.

AFL Practice

Group A went with coach Jack the AFL coach.

We learnt a lot of new skills like passes. To pass you would have to fist the ball and the ball will be on your weak hand the laces part at the at the top 

To kick the ball you would have to point your feet a the direction of the person.

The first game we played was Octopus you had to pass it and hit the person that was running if the person got caught they would have to stand like a star. 

The second game was you would have to kick the teacher and the coach.

I enjoyed AFL because I got to catch a lot of balls. I think I need to improve on my passes

LS1's Treaty

We learnt about the 3 Ps in the Treaty of Waitangi and how they apply to our learning. 

First Mr Ogilvie introduced the 3 Ps in the Treaty of Waitangi. They are protection, partners

 &  participation.

Then in groups we wrote statements about the 3 Ps in LS1 

LS1 figured out the 3 Ps are all connected.

After that we used our group ideas and thought about how they connected to me.

I chose these three statements because they will help me be successful with my learning.I will be cybersmart with my learning.

Maths | Basic Facts Boxes

 I complete a speed demon challenge up to 5.

my score was 90/100 and my time was 5 minuets and 3 seconds.

I am aiming to get more question correct at my basic facts up to 5.

Basic Facts

Today I tested myself with my basic facts sheet using this site called Prototec.

I got 20% and it took me nine minutes to do.

I need to work on my basic facts at home.

Optical Illusion

 

Today our task was to find a optical illusion draw the optical illusion that you want.

This activity was easy for but finding the optical illusion was hard i did not know what optical illusion I was gonna do.

Today our task was to make a insect out of leaves I tried to make a Dragon Fly I used yellow leaves with a stick for the body and this circle leaf for the head .
