 Did you know that the pulley, wheel and axel and screw they all move objects. A screw works by turning around, a wheel and axle is worked by an axle, a pulley is worked by pulling on a rope and a wheel and by working together the heavy object will lift.

Balancing

 Today I learnt how to balance while doing a sport.

First we went to the frisbee station. This was hard becasue we had to catch while balancing.

I thought the frisbee was hard becasue standing on one leg while trying to catch a frisbee was quite hard.

Next we did the basketball station. This activity was hard becasue we had to bounce the ball and that hard.

Then we went to the netball station. this was easier than the basketball because the netballs was light so I could pass it to my partner eaier.

Then we went to the rugby station. This was hard and easy because the rugby ball had a good grip on the ball but i could not pass it.

Lastly We went to the hockey sticks station. this activity was fun because my partner tried to make it harder for me.

Maori

Today we learnt some objects from around the kitchen. For example oumu this means oven.

I learnt how to say Kei hea te pene rākau? this means where is the pencil.

I also learnt how to say Kei raro i te tēpu? which means the pecil is under the table.

I thought this activity was fun beacasue I thought it could help me with my maori in class.

Explain That Idiom

An idiom is a saying with a different meaning.

  

The Life Cycle of a Butterfly

 I completed a task about the life cycle of a butterfly.

First we had to put together papers with facts about the lifecycle of a butterfly.

Next we had to write down the life cycle of a butterfly and add a cause and effect in bewteen the sentences.

Lastly we had to put together the papers with facts on it.

The three simple machines are lever, inclined plane, and wedge. These simple machines are all similar as they use a flat surface to move objects.

Keywords are words with an important meaning that talks about the topic.

Basic Facts Boxes

 I completed the speed demon challenge on addition. I did up to 20. I got 100/100 my time was four minutes and three seconds. I think I need go up to 100 so I can do my multiplication and division.

SSR Selfie l Ghosts

 I read 30 pages of Ghosts by Raina Telgemeier.

First I wrote when Maya  and her dad went to double back and order some food then her sister got a text from her friend and she wanted to invite Maya over to her sisters friends house so the dad takes them both to beach.

I like Maya because she used her favourite toy to save.

Keywords

Today I learnt about keywords.

First we had to find a keyword in a text.

Next we had to figure out if it was an keyword.

finally we had to check for somemore keywords.

I thought this activity was easy because I could spot a few keywords.

Manners

Manners show respect to other people and use formal language.

Exmaples of when to use manners are for thanking someone, welcoming someone, helping someone.

Example of how manners work is using eye contact, their name and a polite voice.

Example of manners are:

• please 
• may I 
• your welcome
• eye contact
• opening the door

To use manners you have to use eye contact have a nice greeting.

Problem Solving

 Today we had to problem solve six problems that use time.

First we had to solve problems.

Next we had to explain how we got the answer.

Finally we had to see if we got the questions right.

I thought this was easy becasue I can tell digital time and analog time.

Cause and Effect

Cause and Effect is something that causes the problem and the effect of the problem.

What you need to play cause or effect you will need:

Cause - cause and effect requires four causes.

Casual Language - cause and effect requires four casual languages.

Effect - cause and effect requires four effects.     

To play cause and effect you will need a computer or paper, two or more players to compete with, timer (opitnal).

Time Difference

 I learnt about time differences.

First I looked at the hour hand which is 4

Then I look at the minutes hand which is 35

lastly I combind the two numbers and I get 4:35.

I thought this activity was easy but I need to improve on some times because I got some wrong.

Maori

 I learnt how to say three prepositions.

The first I learnt how to say is tenei. Tenei. Tenei means here.

The second preposition I learnt how to say is tena. Tena means there.

The third preposition I learnt how to say is tera. Tera means over there.

I thought this activity was easy because the prepositions could help me around the class room.

I completed a speed demon challenge. I did up to five because I wanted to see if I still knew my basic facts up to five. I got 7 wrong and 93 correct I got three minutes and four seconds.

I think I need learn the mistakes that I made in the basic facts boxes.

I learnt some questions that can help me around me in the class room.

First I learnt how to say kua marama which means do you understand?

Next I learnt how to say kua mutu which means are you finished?

I think I need to learn more questions in maori so it can help me with maori.

SSR Selfie l Press Start Robo Rabbit

I read 30 pages of Press Start Robo Rabbit by Thomas Flintham.

First I wrote When Super Rabbit boy was challenged to finish a maze with lots of monsters in the maze trying to stop him. Then Super Rabbit boy found his way out of the maze and went back to his village that he was staying at.

I like Super Rabbit Boy because he had to go through all the monsters to save his village.

Explanation

I learnt about how to write a explanation and use the structure TIMES.

First I chose to write about how Ice Hockey works. Then I wrote about what is Ice Hockey and how many players are in a ice hockey game.

Then I wrote about the main points of Ice Hockey:

• Safety equipment
• Ice Hockey shoes
• Players

Then I wrote about the summary. The summary talks about what you need to play ice hockey.

Analog Time

 I complete a task about analog time and digital time.

First I look at the hour hand then I look at the hour hand and then I look at how many hour have gone by which is 5.

Then I count the minutes that have gone by which is 54 and I get 5:54.

I liked this activity because I learnt how to read time digital and analog

Balance

I leared about balancing.

First Mr Ogilve taught us what balancing is. Then Mr Ogilve taught us about tipping point and when you are about to fall over.

The first activity we did was standing on a beam with two or more people crossing both ways at the same time. We had to keep both people on the beam at the same time but if you were fineshed before the other people were finished you had to restart.

The next activity was we had to balance on a soccer ball for the longest time. Me and my partners stood on the ball for 20 seconds but we failed many times because when I went on the ball I was in tipping point and fell over.

I think the balancing on a ball was the most hardest because I did not get much time.

Prediction

 I learnd that predicting is guessing but getting an idea.

I made predictions about the information in the book Winter Sports.

Prediction is easy and I need to get better on my predicting.
